What makes good web design for a business?
Good web design lets a visitor understand within seconds what you offer, who it’s for and what to do next. The site should feel trustworthy, read well on a phone and load quickly. Looking good matters, but only once the page is clear. Otherwise visitors simply move on to the next search result.
- A heading that says what you do, not a slogan
- One obvious button for the next step: call, book or request a quote
- Details that build trust: who you are, where you work and roughly what it costs
- Text and buttons that work with a thumb on a small screen
What is UX design, in plain words?
UX stands for user experience: how easily a visitor finds what they’re looking for and does what they came to do. UX design is about structure, wording and flow. Which pages are needed, what goes at the top, how many steps does the form have? The aim is that nobody has to stop and think.
That’s why we start with questions, not colours. What do you sell, to whom, and what is missing today? The answers decide which pages you need and what each page should get the visitor to do. Only then do we design how it looks.
Does my website have to be accessible by law?
It depends on what you do. Since 28 June 2025, Sweden’s act on the accessibility of certain products and services has applied to, among other things, e-commerce services aimed at consumers. Services provided by microenterprises are exempt. Whatever the legal position, an accessible site is easier for every visitor to use.
The act implements the EU accessibility directive (EU) 2019/882, often called the European Accessibility Act. It defines a microenterprise as a business with fewer than ten employees and an annual turnover or balance sheet total of no more than EUR 2 million. If you’re unsure whether it applies to you, read the act itself. We don’t give legal advice.
The usual yardstick for web accessibility is WCAG, guidelines published by the W3C with three levels: A, AA and AAA. One concrete AA requirement: normal text needs a contrast ratio of at least 4.5:1 against its background.
- Clear contrast between text and background
- Pages that can be used with a keyboard alone
- Images with descriptive alternative text
- Forms where every field has a visible label
Why does page speed matter so much?
Visitors don’t wait. The BBC found it lost roughly one in ten users for every extra second its pages took to load. Google says the largest content on a page should appear within 2.5 seconds for a good experience. Speed is part of the design, not something you fix afterwards.
Google measures perceived speed with three Core Web Vitals: how fast the main content appears (LCP, 2.5 seconds or less), how quickly the page responds to a tap or click (INP, 200 milliseconds or less) and how much the layout jumps while loading (CLS, 0.1 or less).
So we choose images, fonts and effects with their weight in mind while we design, and then build on clean code instead of a bloated template.
How does the design step work at DProff?
You see the pages before they are coded and tell us what to change. Two consolidated rounds of changes to design and content are included in the price. Once you’re happy, we build, test on real devices and review performance. Further changes are fine, at the hourly rate or as a fixed add-on you approve first.
- Conversation: what you sell, to whom and what is missing today. Free of charge.
- Proposal: scope, timeline and a fixed price in writing before anything is built
- Design: you see the pages and say what should change
- Development: we build, test on real devices and review performance
- Launch: we publish, measure and adjust
What do I get, and what does web design cost?
Design is included in our website packages: Start from SEK 14 900, Business from SEK 29 900 and Custom from SEK 59 900, all excluding VAT. You get a custom design, not a template, that works on phone, tablet and desktop. A logo and a brand identity are available as add-ons.
You pay in two parts: 50 % when work starts and 50 % at launch. The price does not change as long as the scope stays the same.
- Start: 1–5 pages with a custom design, done in 2–3 weeks
- Business: up to 12 pages, two languages and a performance and accessibility review
- Custom: features built for your business and a design system for future pages
- Logo from SEK 9 900: three directions and one finished logo in every format
- Brand identity from SEK 19 900: logo, colours, type, image style and templates
