How does Google Ads work?

Every time someone searches on Google, an auction decides which ads appear and in what order. Your bid matters, but so does the quality of your ad and landing page. You pay for each click, often less than your maximum bid, and you decide the budget yourself.

Google calls this ranking Ad Rank. It is worked out for every search, based on factors such as your bid, the quality of the ad and landing page, and how competitive the auction is at that moment. Google says higher-quality ads can often lead to a lower cost per click.

What does Google Ads cost a small business?

There are two parts. Our management costs SEK 4 900 a month excluding VAT and covers setup, ongoing optimisation and a monthly report. The ad budget is paid to Google on top of that. You choose that amount, so your total is always our fee plus whatever you decide to spend on ads.

  • Management: SEK 4 900/month excluding VAT (25 %)
  • Included: setup, ongoing optimisation and a monthly report
  • Ad spend: extra, paid to Google
  • A fixed price in writing before we start

How big should my starting ad budget be?

No single figure suits everyone. Start from what a new customer is worth to you, how many people search for what you sell and what clicks cost in your sector. Begin with an amount you can afford to test for a few months, and only raise it once the numbers show it pays off.

In Google Ads you set an average daily budget. According to Google, a single day can cost up to twice that figure, but for most campaigns you are charged no more than 30.4 times the daily budget in a month. To work from a monthly budget, divide it by 30.4.

It helps to work backwards: how much can a new customer cost before it stops making sense? That number shapes both budget and bids, and we go through it on the first call.

How do I know if the ads are paying off?

Look at business, not clicks. Conversion tracking shows which ads lead to purchases, enquiries or calls. Clicks and impressions tell you how much traffic you are buying, not whether it brings customers. So before the first krona goes on ads, we agree with you what counts as a result.

Google can count purchases and sign-ups on your website, calls from your ads or your site, and in-store sales you upload afterwards. Which of these are right for you depends on how you sell.

Measuring on a website may require visitors’ consent. We set it up together with you, based on the consent requirements that apply to your site. Our own site sets no tracking cookies, and we won’t add any to yours unless you ask for them.

Why does the landing page matter so much?

The click is only half the job. The page the ad leads to decides whether the visitor gets in touch or leaves. Google also takes landing page quality into account when deciding where your ad appears. A fast page that answers exactly what the person searched for makes every krona of ad spend work harder.

We build websites too, so we can fix the landing page itself rather than just sending more traffic to a page that isn’t working. If you need a new one, our Start package begins at SEK 14 900 excluding VAT.

When is Google Ads the wrong choice?

When hardly anyone searches for what you sell, when the margin on a new customer is too thin to cover the cost of clicks, or when your website can’t convert the visitors. Then it is often wiser to start with the site, SEO or other marketing. We would rather say so on the first call than after three months of ads.

  • Very few people search for the service or product
  • A new customer is worth less than it costs to win one through ads
  • The website is slow or unclear and needs fixing first
  • You can’t take on more customers right now

How does DProff run Google Ads month to month?

It starts with a free call about what you sell and to whom, followed by a written proposal with a fixed price. We set up the account, campaigns and measurement. After that we optimise continuously and send a monthly report showing what the ads cost and what they brought in. The account is in your name.

  • Setup of campaigns, keywords and ads
  • Ongoing optimisation of bids, keywords and ad copy
  • A monthly report on cost and business results
  • A reply within one working day whenever you get in touch

Frequently asked questions

Is the ad budget included in the SEK 4 900?

No. SEK 4 900 a month excluding VAT is our management fee. The ad budget is paid to Google on top, and you decide how much it is.

Who owns the Google Ads account?

You do. Accounts are in your name, so the campaigns and their history stay with you if you ever want to change supplier.

Do I need a new website to get started?

No. If your current site works well, we can advertise to it. If it is slow or unclear, we will tell you and suggest what to change first.

Can you run ads in Swedish or Arabic?

Yes. We work in Swedish, English and Arabic, so ads and landing pages can be written in the language your customers search in.

Do you run social media ads as well?

Yes, our digital advertising covers both Google and social media. The price for social media is set in the quote, based on the scope.

Want to know if Google Ads suits you?
